Health & Safety Administrator F & P Mfg., Inc., offers an exciting and rewarding career opportunity in a fast paced, highly automated, state-of-the-art automotive parts manufacturing facility located in Tottenham, located 40 minutes north of the Toronto airport. F & P Mfg., Inc., is a tier one automotive parts supplier producing suspension components and pedal assemblies for Honda. We are a complete manufacturing facility and have been stamping, welding, painting and assembling parts for 30 years. We have 900 associates working at our 2 on site manufacturing plants. Position Summary : Responsible for assisting in the management of the day to day operations of the Health and Safety Department including, first aid treatment of associates, workers compensation administration, safety training, etc. Responsible for associate overall safety and well-being through training and coaching of managers and supervisors. Position Responsibilities : Ensure a safe work environment for our team. Provide first aid treatment for injuries or care of personal associate illness. Develop, implement and manage a health and safety program with a continuous improvement philosophy. Develop and monitor safety policies and procedures. Enforce the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Monitor workplace and associate behaviours to achieve safety through compliance. Report unsafe conditions and take corrective action to prevent recurrence. Coordinate required personal protective equipment programs. Ensure adequate safety and first aid supplies are available. Conduct/coordinate required safety training, and safety meetings. Investigate and maintain records of accidents. Serve as back- up contact with regulatory inspectors. Stay current with changing regulations. Promoting and inspire good safety practices. Assist associates, supervisors and managers with daily safety concerns. Participate in hazard identification process. Assisting with WSIB claims. Serve as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Respond to emergency situations including fire, severe weather, chemical spills, accidents, etc.. Responsible for health and safety training during new associate orientation (4-6 orientations per year occur on weekends). Qualifications: Post-secondary degree or diploma in health and safety or related discipline. First aid/CPR/AED, IAPA Certified or willing to be trained. The ability to exercise discretion, judgement and work confidentiality. Considerable experience in an operations environment evaluating health & safety and life safety processes and procedures for compliance, with the ability to make recommendations for improvement. Sound knowledge of and the ability to apply and interpret the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant regulations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, and the ability to utilize other software packages. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with all levels of the organization, with internal and external stakeholders and consultants, within a team environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Experience conducting research and analysis, identifying solutions, preparing and implementing recommendations.
