The Community Living Association for South Simcoe (CLASS) provides services and supports to people with a developmental disability to enable them to live with dignity, maximize their potential for personal growth, and participate in all elements of living in the community. CLASS has Support Worker and Overnight Awake Worker vacancies and will accept applications for people wishing to work in a group home setting. CLASS is also recruiting for Casual and Part time Support Workers available for every other Sat/Sun and Float Support Workers (after a thorough orientation, staff who "float" from one location to another). Please note that week day, evenings and weekend availability is required. We provide services in the South Simcoe County area (Alliston/Bradford & Everett). We are just 50 minutes north of Toronto and less than a half hour from the heart of cottage country; an ideal site close to summer and winter recreation and just 40 minutes from Blue Mountain, Snow Valley and the ski hills of Mansfield. CLASS has partnered with over 50 agencies and government services in providing support to Individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities. We strive to participate in our communities through employment opportunities, links to education and training as well as support for local events. The successful candidates will have a high school diploma and be working towards or earned a post secondary diploma, which may include, but not limited to, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or Social Services Worker, and a minimum of 3-6 months experience working in the Developmental Services Sector . A special interest in Applied Behavioural Management, along with training in Crisis Prevention Intervention, First Aid, CPR, and a Class “F” Driver’s License would be an asset. CLASS provides on-going training in subjects such as Rights Training, Best Practices, Medication Dispensing, Health & Safety, Dual Diagnosis, Ethics of Touch, Person Directed Planning, and many others. Qualifications/Education: Minimum high school education, preferably graduated from post-secondary institution in social services or related field (DSW, SSW, CYW, RNA, RN)PSW applicants will be considered as long as accompanied with a High School graduate Diploma. An Asset: Valid First Aid Certificate , Valid CPR Certificate, Recognized NVCI training, Required: Valid Class G driver's license Experience : Three -Six months experience working with people with developmental disabilities. - Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child/Youth Worker, Social Service Worker diplomas or similar degree programs from an accredited community college or university. PSW graduates who have completed their High School diploma may also be considered. There must be a minimum of 6 months experience in the human services field and working with people with intellectual disabilities.
