Job Description

Parks and Facilities Attendant

Temporary Full-Time (May 4 – September 8)

40 hours per week

2020-22

Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks and Open Spaces, and guided by the Senior Operators, this position assists with parks maintenance, grass cutting, Conservation Area maintenance, and facilities maintenance during the summer months.

Responsibilities:

 Operates equipment safely and works to maintain Town parks, outdoor spaces and facilities.

  • Reports in writing any damages of a serious nature to the immediate Supervisor. Ensures daily activity logs are completed and submitted in a timely manner.  Ensures time sheet is filled in accurately and submitted to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of a positive team-oriented work environment by working co-operatively with other employees, using the appropriate process for handling problems, helping to motivate and encourage peers, contributing ideas and assisting others where necessary
  • Promotes a high standard of customer service to the public as well as to all internal customers
  • Works in compliance with the Corporate Health and Safety Policy and all other corporate policies, procedures and operational guidelines.

Skills Required

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum Class G2 drivers licence in good standing, and ability to submit a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Shift work required.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, legible handwriting and ability to communicate with the public and other staff in a polite and diplomatic manner.
  • Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the duties of a Worker under the act.
  • Prior work experience in landscape field preferred.

The successful candidate must have the ability to align with established goals and objectives and is able to create/follow plans and processes accordingly to deliver task and goal completion to a high standard.   Salary:   $14.38, plus 4% vacation pay
