About the Opportunity: Our Barrie Transit team is looking to hire Full-Time Utility Workers. MVT Canadian Bus Inc. proudly operates the Barrie Transit conventional and specialized transit service for the City of Barrie from a brand new $22M state-of-the-art facility as part of a 20-year operating contract. Utility Workers are responsible for the overall interior and external cleanliness and fueling of Transit vehicles to meet service requirements.

Classification: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Unionized Position

Wage: $17.10 per hour + $0.50 shift premium, 2% increase scheduled for July 1st, 2018

Hours: 6:00 pm - 2:30 am

Days off: 2 consecutive days off per week, typically mid-week

Successful applicants receive full paid training; however work experience in any of the following areas is desirable:

  • Previous cleaning experience
  • Experience working with cleaning products, chemicals and equipment
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems

Skills Required

About You: To become a Utility Worker, you must:

  • Be over the age of 19 and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Possess a valid “C” Ontario Driver’s License with “Z” (airbrakes) endorsement; OR
  • Possess a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License with the ability to upgrade to a “CZ” Driver’s License within the probationary period (training will be provided, candidates responsible for cost associated with “CZ” license)
  • Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Be flexible to work a number of shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Be detail oriented and able to work independently with little or no supervision
