Job Description

Develops client service action plans to meet the full range of an individuals employment and career goals.  Monitors clients throughout action plan and adjusts plan as necessary.  Negotiates placements with employers and follows up with clients and employers to ensure job retention. Able to deliver services in both English and French. 


  • Greet clients of the Resource Centre and respond to client inquiries through a variety of channels including phone, in person and electronically
  • Conduct brief and individual assessment with clients defining employment, career and personal goals
  • Develop a client service action plan, in conjunction with client, which highlights the steps to be followed in order that the client can move to their employment and career goals
  • Assist clients in the use of computers, internet and other business equipment
  • Monitors, evaluates, and adjust plan as required
  • Refer client to the most appropriate level of service based on client needs; determine client eligibility
  • Refer clients to other community agencies and resources as appropriate
  • Provide up to date information on Employment Ontario programs and services
  • Develop and monitor placements in consultation with Employer Service Professionals
  • Negotiates client supports (such as transportation, credentialing, child care support)
  • Provide job search and career counselling
  • Develop and deliver workshops
  • Administer career and skills assessments and assist clients in interpreting results
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and employer files according to agency procedure
  • Collect daily statistics on services provided and collect client suggestions and ensure they are submitted to the Program Co-ordinator in a timely manner
  • Ensure data entered into provincial system and agency database is accurate and timely
  • Develop links with community resources/services and refer clients to them when appropriate
  • Link clients with mentors and coaches in the workplace to ensure retention
  • Case manage client through to a successful outcome and provide retention activities to ensure client is successful in the long term
  • Analyse the local labour market to determine skill development needs and occupational development opportunities
  • Provide support to Information and Referral Service
  • Assist with in school activities, evening hours and workshops
  • Conduct exit interviews with clients and employers
  • Ensure proper documentation of rationale for and progress through all services provided
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills Required

Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.  Significant Employment / Career counselling experience or a combination of experience and education in career and employment counselling or other relevant training.  Job Development / Placement experience.  Experience in case management.  Excellent organizational and file management skills.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Careful attention to detail.  Computer knowledge.
