Employer and Community Liaison Competition # 143-20 (REPOST) Department: Government and Employment Programs Campus: Orillia Classification: Support Staff Salary Range: $ 31.06 Hours per week: Up to 24 hours per week Status: Part-time (temporary) Posting Date: August 27, 2020 THIS IS A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT POSITION FOR A BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEE. Terms and conditions of employment are as outlined in the Support Staff Collective Agreement. This position is in Career and Employment Community Services, Orillia. Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the incumbent facilitates the successful transition from unemployment to employment through job development, community partnerships and training and education for Ontario citizens with the provincial target groups for Employment Ontario Employment Services (EOES). Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Developing new work placement opportunities and on the job training placement opportunities in the local labour market which includes: assessing employers against ministry eligibility guidelines, conducting on-site visits, determining training subsidy allocations for employers, and negotiating wage subsidies Building and maintaining strong relationships with current and potential employers to maximize placement potential for clients Providing structured support to clients to clarify their employment and training needs, develop short and long term goals, conduct job search / explore training opportunities, and assessing training support needs and expenditures required Introducing clients to employers and working collaboratively on a training plan to ensure the match of clients skills with employer work requirements Administering employment supports and training incentives as per Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development Employment Services guidelines Preparing and finalizing placement agreements and contracts Providing ongoing support to the employer and client throughout the duration of the placement and into employment which includes: monitoring progress, providing feedback, evaluating training outcomes, and providing mediation and intervention when required to ensure retention of the placement Preparing and maintaining detailed participant case notes during participant interactions in electronic as well as web based databases in a timely manner Working collaboratively with community partners to organize joint events and workshops Conducting community outreach and acting as a community ambassador during employer and community events Developing and delivering presentations on CECS to local employer and community groups QUALIFICATIONS: Successfully completed a three year post secondary diploma in a relevant field of study that may include but is not limited to marketing, business or human resources Three years’ experience in a position where duties included developing work placement and / or training opportunities and providing career / vocation advice for individuals Experience using career advising and customer service skills with the ability to work under pressure and respond effectively in difficult / sensitive situations Experience in development and facilitating workshops to both employer and client audiences Ability to work within specified program guidelines, including new Employment Ontario Employment Service Guidelines Computer skills and experience with databases, job posting / web editing software, career planning software, Microsoft Office Suite and social media Knowledge of labour market trends and employment-related legislation Demonstrated knowledge of local community resources to provide enhanced referrals Ability to take initiative, work independently, and as part of team to achieve site targets Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities Proven communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain and adhere to confidentiality guidelines set out by program funder and Georgian College Access to private dependable transportation is required to conduct on-site employer visits Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and non-mandatory statutory holidays Experience working with service plans in EOIS-CaMS is an asset Georgian College supports diversity, equity and a workplace free from harassment and discrimination.
